As a Manager of Market Research & Consumer Insights you will be a high-impact, highly visible ‘resident expert’ on what our clients and consumers at-large are doing, saying, and the ‘why’ underneath. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Market Research & Consumer Insights, you will skillfully create appropriate methodologies, execute primary research (quantitative and qualitative), and be a true change agent for the business. In addition, you will: 

  • Conduct insights and research for Sephora North America in conjunction with the Sr. Director: qualitative fieldwork and quantitative studies; running projects end-to-end (many times with minimal supervision)
  • Lead all creative testing research in addition to key foundational tracking studies covering brand equity and longitudinal brand health tracking
  • Analyze primary survey data–from cross-tabbing to regressions—and reports in storytelling format
  • Works cross-functionally to marry disparate data sets (e.g. SAS transactional data, observational digital analytics data, secondary research data, etc.) and report out to org
  • Closely collaborates with Analytics partners to run analyses in SAS database to extract emails for surveys as well as ad hoc analyses for additional layers of insight to reports
  • Influences via cross-functional partnerships, collaborations, and relationship building; Works closely with business partners to create strategies for the business grounded in data and consumer insight/intelligence
  • Stays abreast of upcoming sociocultural trends and macroeconomic impacts to business in order to inform long-term research pipeline and business strategies
  • Oversees the team’s research operations, including but not limited to: managing survey calendar, coordinating with email and sample partners to ensure launch dates and fieldwork run smoothly, programming quantitative research surveys, QC of programs, tracking incidence metrics for highest efficiency operations, and qualitative fieldwork coordination/event planning

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 5+ years of directly relevant experience (e.g. conducting market research, consumer insights for retailer, management consulting)—Ideally 2+ years of which were spent supplier side with exposure to large-scale engagements and execution of research across a wide range of topics/industries
  • Experience leading creative testing research and familiarity with media, marketing effectiveness analytics, and the creative development process including partnering with cross-functional teams to triangulate data and insights
  • Highly knowledgeable in quantitative and qualitative research methods—including data analyses, cross-tabbing, sample design, fieldwork management
  • General exposure to or understanding of Retail, FMCG, CPG, and/or Beauty industries—including marketing development timelines and product development/innovation pipelines—ideally related business experience in marketing, communications, business development, brand management, consulting, and/or analytics
  • Able to think both analytically and creatively—balance left and right brain—people person as well as data person
  • Excellent communicator and storyteller with proven track record of influencing business decisions/strategies
  • Feels confident in designing and managing their own projects with oversight only as necessary; able to “live in the gray” and deal with ambiguity
  • Additional software/platform competencies: statistical package (e.g. SPSS, R, STATA, etc.), survey programming (e.g. Focus Vision Beacon, Qualtrix, etc.), and ideally SAS
  • Available for travel (about 20%) and/or local fieldwork #LI-SCR

The salary range for applicants who will work remotely in Colorado is $84,000-$131,250. Compensation is based on several bona fide factors including but not limited to education, work experience, industry experience, etc.
